Dandelions-an inspiration.

Dandelions are thought of by many as weeds. People diligently work to erradicate them from their yards on a regular basis. And yet the propogation continues. They have been my favorite "flower" for some time now. As I have already pointed out they are hardy.

In addition to their hardiness, every part of the dandelion is of use to humans. The roots and flowers have been used in foods/tees and medicinally for ever. I believe you can even make wine from them. And finally they are a wonderful "toy". Really, who can resist occasionally bending to pluck one of those puffs to blow in the direction of ones choice. There is always such a sense of freedom in that action. (If you haven't done it lately, I suggest it. If you have children, show them. If not, show your grandmother.)

Our lives are like those puffs. We can choose to be blown in whatever direction our surroundings (the wind) send us, or we can pick it up and direct it, sending ourself out in the directions we determine, choosing to bloom wherever we land.

Maybe saying dandelions are my favorite flowers was an inaccurate statement. I really love jasmine, bluebonnets and gladiolas, and the list goes on. However, given a choice, the dandelion is the flower I would most like to emulate.
